BEST IN STATE – KANGAROO ISLAND’S DUDLEY WINES WINS 2017 TOURISM AWARD 

Family owned small business, Dudley Wines of Kangaroo Island wins best Cellar Door Tourism Experience in South Australia for 2017. 

The team at Dudley Wines are truly excited and still amazed at their win in this year’s South Australian Tourism Awards for Category 16 – Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries. The award recognises wineries, distilleries and boutique breweries that offer a cellar door experience and create a significant contribution to tourism. They were up against stiff competition this year, with some of SA’s biggest and well-known wineries and beverage businesses entering the category, which makes the winning of this award even more special for this small family run business. 

Jeff Howard, the patriarch and family member with the original vision of creating a high-quality Kangaroo Island cellar door tourism experience, is grinning from ear to ear under his bushy beard “We have been growing and growing over such a short time, so we know we are doing something right! Our customers tell us that too. To be recognised as best in our state just makes us so pleased and validates that we are heading in the right direction. But we are not stopping here. There are more plans for the future still in the pipeline”. 

Howard family members, Tam, Kate and Kasha together with their Venue Manager Heidi attended the awards dinner on Friday 10th Nov at the Adelaide Convention Centre. When the winner was announced the girls could not stop jumping up and down screaming. “Still can’t believe we won” said Kasha. “It’s such a great honour to win this against the amazing other finalists. Thanks to our staff for the awesome job they are doing and to the South Australian Tourism Awards for holding this important event for tourism in our State”. Congratulations to all the other Kangaroo Island Tourism medal recipients that helped the Howard family celebrate on the night.
